Property-developer Hamilton Disston is credited with founding the city of St. Cloud, during the last half of the 19th century. He bought more than four million acres of Florida swampland – the largest amount of land ever bought by a single individual – and transformed the state by draining it and creating a litany of cities and communities, many of which still exist today.

St. Cloud was named for the city in Minnesota, and was also known as “The Friendly Soldier City”, since it was founded as a retirement community for the veterans of the Civil War. The city was originally the site of a huge sugar plantation until the great freeze of 1894.  Despite that setback, Disston’s decision to extend the South Florida Railroad right to St. Cloud’s doorstep meant the city continued to flourish, and today has over 35,000 residents today; many of whom use it as a base to commute to nearby Orlando.

St. Cloud is surrounded on all sides by extensive lakes and waterways, which mean residents frequently have to tackle issues with ants, spiders, crickets, palmetto bugs, ticks, fleas, chiggers, chinch bugs, sod web worms, mole crickets and armyworms.

Fortunately US Bug Squad offers the full range of pest control and insect control services to tackle these pest control issues, including Pest Control Active Application, Damminix Tick Control, surface Insect Control and Arbor Systems Tree Injection to combat white flies, black scales, pink spots, brown leaves and wilted trees.
